Key duties & responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems across diverse commercial markets and product types.

• Interpret product requirements and specifications, identify gaps, and define clear technical inputs to drive engineering design.

• Plan and deliver engineering projects to agreed objectives, applying appropriate development approaches across components and assemblies.

• Produce integrated engineering designs that achieve functional performance and reliability, supported by calculations, FEA, and physical testing insight.

• Scope and execute test and verification activities as a core part of the design process, with hands-on involvement in prototype build and testing.

• Proactively communicate development risks and issues to project and technical leads, with a focus on solutions and outcomes.

• Create and review CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing specifications to a high standard.

• Compile clear engineering documentation and actively participate in design reviews, from initiation through to completion.

• Responsible for mentoring, supporting and inspiring Graduate and Intermediate engineers

We're interested in the diverse skills and knowledge you bring. Your background may include a combination of the following:

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering or similar, or proficient practical experience

• Ideally 6+ years' experience in a relevant engineering role.

• A strong foundation in structural mechanics and various analysis methods

• Experience in the appropriate selection of materials, defining geometry, and applying dimensional tolerances (GD&T).

• Knowledge of fatigue analysis using established industry methods (such as FKM).

• Familiarity with documenting engineering designs and managing data in systems

• A practical understanding of designing for manufacture and providing support throughout the production process.

• Experience in translating customer requirements into verified engineering designs.

• A history of participating in and contributing to engineering design reviews.

• Proficiency in the use of CAD & FEA tools
