We are looking for motivated Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our growing team and take ownership of the structural design of components and assemblies. Applying your engineering expertise, you will lead the design and analysis across a range of technically challenging projects, ensuring designs meet yield, ultimate, and fatigue strength criteria.

A core part of this role is the detailed design and analysis of fastened and welded joint details, where you will specify manufacturing verification criteria to ensure design intent is carried through seamlessly to final product.

Key duties & responsibilities:

• Designing welded structures to yield and ultimate strength failure criteria.

• Designing welded structures subject to fatigue loading and to meet fatigue life and failure criteria.

• Sizing and specification of welds to meet component and structure performance criteria.

• Compiling engineering design documentation and specifications for fabrication and/or construction.

• Engagement with fabrication and manufacturing, providing engineering handover, supervision, and manufacturing support.

• Engineering design of structural connections – e.g. bolted joints, riveted connections, flanged connections.

We're interested in the diverse skills and knowledge you bring. Your background may include a combination of the following:

• Previous experience in the design and engineering of steel weldments and fabricated structures.

• Knowledge of structural mechanics and analysis methods.

• Structural analysis by analytical methods, hand calculations, and FE methods.

• Fatigue analysis by industry established methods (eg FKM), both analytical and FE methods.

• Knowledge of welding and structural steel Standards – eg AS/NZS, AWS, ASTM, EN etc.

• Skilled in use of CAD and FEA tools – e.g. SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys.

• Writing manufacturing specifications and drafting of manufacturing drawings.
