We're seeking an exceptional IT Leader to join us, as we transition from using shared group IT services and build our own in-house expertise. This is your opportunity to take a solid foundation and shape it into something purpose-built for our future. We are after more than just technical expertise. About the Opportunity 

• Lead global IT strategy and operations for Holmes Solutions, a 70-person engineering consultancy with offices across New Zealand and the USA 

• Rare opportunity to be THE technology leader - direct influence on business direction without layers of bureaucracy 

• Take ownership of a solid Microsoft/Azure foundation as we bring IT in-house, then evolve it to match your vision and our business needs 

• High autonomy role reporting directly to senior leadership with budget authority and strategic input

What You'll Own 

• IT strategy and roadmap aligned with business growth and engineering excellence 

• Security architecture and compliance for sensitive design and commercial data in Microsoft/Azure environment 

• Vendor and partner relationships - orchestrate outsourced services while maintaining in-house core capabilities 

• AI and innovation pipeline - evaluate and implement tools that give Holmes competitive advantage 

• Day-to-day network administration and infrastructure management 

• Leadership of small technical team with organization-wide impact and influence 

What you'll bring to the team:

• Proven experience architecting and managing complex infrastructure, security, integration, and data solutions 

• Strong cloud engineering and deep Microsoft 365/Azure expertise 

• Security-first mindset with experience protecting sensitive commercial and technical data 

• Strategic thinker who can translate business needs into technology solutions 

• Comfortable being hands-on while also driving innovation and strategy 

• Excellent communicator who can collaborate effectively with all teams across the organisation

• Track record of successful vendor management and building effective partnerships 

• Genuine interest in AI, automation, and staying at the leading edge
