At Holmes Solutions, we are looking for a Cloud Engineer. We need someone who genuinely knows Azure inside-out. Not "passionate," not a "rockstar," just good at cloud engineering. You’ll build our Azure infrastructure because we’re splitting IT away from our parent company. Real work, real decisions, real responsibility.

What You'll Bring:

Know Azure (deeply). - Can use Terraform, Python, PowerShell. - Have solved real, messy infrastructure problems before. - Enjoy mentoring others (not mandatory, just helpful).

About the Role 

Build and own our Azure cloud environment. Make critical decisions alongside our leadership. Skip the bureaucracy; do meaningful work. This will include:

•  resolving cloud-specific challenges, enhancing cloud system reliability, and facilitating efficient operational workflows within established service level agreements.
•  enhancing cloud architecture and services by recommending and implementing system wide improvements, upholding the latest documentation standards, and managing cloud resource procurement within the allocated budget.
•  protect and optimize Holmes' cloud infrastructure, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives through exceptional service standards and a commitment to advanced security measures.
•  regular interaction with developers and systems engineers/administrators to streamline deployment processes and promote a culture of DevOps, fostering innovation and speeding up delivery.
•  providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff, promoting skill development and fostering a knowledgeable, high-performing team.

About You

• Ideally a minimum of 2 years Level 3 support experience and 5 years in other technology roles
• Preferably a degree in Information Technology or similar a technical qualification
• Proficient in cloud services such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform, with hands-on experience in deploying, managing, and operating scalable and secure cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends.
• Knowledge of network architecture and security protocols, including VPNs, DNS, load balancing, and firewalling within a cloud context.
• Skills in scripting and automation using languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
• Background in managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications or data layers.
• Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and familiarity with best practices for cloud security and data protection.
